Shay Loves to Give

I am is originally from Detroit, Michigan but I have been in Atlanta 23 years, so I am an official “Grady Baby” as far as I am concerned. Before pursuing psychology, I was an accountant for 16 years. I was a military wife until widowed as my husband was killed, however, I am grateful that I have one daughter (23 years old) from this union.

I graduated with a KSU Bachelors in Psychology. I am pursuing my doctorate in Conflict Management here at Kennesaw State. When I receive my doctorate, I plan on working with corporate professionals to get a continuous contract internationally. I am currently writing a book on personal experiences in life to help others pursue their dreams. It is my passion to not only receive my degree but also be an active member on campus and in my community.

My passion is to fight Human Sex Trafficking both here in Atlanta and internationally. With the major problem of sex trafficking of teens in Atlanta, I want to continue having an impact on the teens that come to the shelter. It is great to mentor teens and just be there for them when needed. I serve on the Speaker's Bureau for Wellspring Living to get the word out about this serious problem and work with NightLight International. Nine teens I have worked with at the center are now off the streets. They are now back attending high school and will be attending college.

Presently, I am very involved in my community, I volunteer at the Ryan Cameron Foundation making sure students get into and remain in college. I help them to find money and apply for college by helping to tutor the SAT exam. I mentor at Chamblee High School and I volunteer at several places including the hospitality ministry at church. I also go to the teen homeless shelter downtown Atlanta. At the teen shelter, I assist them in helping them pick out new donated clothes, replenish toiletries and just talking with them.

Unexpectedly, for the last almost 2 years, I have become a Radio Talk Show Host and Television Personality. It all started from a blog and doing relationship panel discussions held on campus and in different meetings.

Last year I finished working on my 10th Habitat for Humanity home. I currently sit on many community as well as business boards.

My favorite hobby is watching sports especially my favorite team, the Atlanta Falcons.

My leadership experience is very vast as I am a non-traditional student, it also includes my current leadership roles as: KSU Student Government Association-Executive Aide 2012-2016, Psychology Club-Treasurer 2013-2014, Undergraduate Research Club-Member, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society-Member just to name a few.

OK, that is enough… I did not even tell you all but just wait for the book.. whew I’m tired… Can’t wait to enjoy this next chapter with you …:).
